The opening track on Sons of the Sea, the self-titled debut LP of the side project by Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd and the band’s producer for the past decade, Brendan O’Brien, is a beauty. The intro is particularly great to listen to with headphones, since the mixing contains a lot of right-left speaker panning. The song has Boyd’s typical exuberance, and it comes in at #49 on my 100 top tracks of 2013 list.
