Hi Eric,
How are you identifying / harvesting the list of 5 star records from AllMusic? Thanks!
Hi Will,
I have been curating these lists of 5-star albums on AllMusic since 2012. So it’s a combination of what I had already done and doing new research into the AllMusic database via the advanced search tool.
There is a bit of a difference in approach this time: for example, instead of dividing up jazz albums into different lists based on jazz subgenres (and excluding almost all compilations), I have decided to make things a bit more inclusive.
So instead of a page dedicated to Latin jazz and another to hard bop and another to cool and so forth, the entirety of jazz is here (or at least it will be when it’s done) on one page, sorted chronologically by earliest release date (with compilations included, since they’re often an important part of a genre’s history).
The page format will eventually mirror the page I have created (and finally finished) for AllMovie here: https://ericmackattacks.com/cinema/allmovie-5-star-films
All of the AllMusic pages are still under construction to some degree.
Happy to answer any additional questions.
Thanks,
Eric
