Highlighting trailblazing blues musicians from legendary labels

That's My Story is the 1960 album from the blues icon, John Lee Hooker, originally released on Riverside Records. The album features a raw, stripped-down approach for a country blues sound. Hooker plays acoustic guitar on tracks like "I Need Some Money" and "No More Doggin'" to create a compelling collection that expertly showcases his mastery. This edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings and features (AAA) remastered from the original tapes cut by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab.

John Lee Hooker (1917-2001), known fondly as "King of the Boogie", was born near Clarksdale, Mississippi. As a young man, Hooker worked his way up north to Detroit to pursue his passion of music. By 1948, the artist had a hit on his hands with one of his earliest recordings, "Boogie Chillun'." He became a leading figure in modern electric blues due to his distinct voice and hypnotic guitar style. Hooker would record over 100 albums throughout the course of his six-decade-long career. The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana are among those who cite Hooker as a major influence.

John Lee Hooker's work is widely recognized for its impact on modern music — his simple, yet deeply effective songs transcend borders and languages around the globe.

Hooker was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Blues Hall of Fame and Memphis Music Hall of Fame; was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and took home four Grammy Awards, plus a coveted Lifetime Achievement award in 2000.

The Hook continues to live on: His music can regularly be heard in TV shows, commercials and films, and many of his tracks have been sampled in new songs — by the likes of Brandi, Chuck D and St Germain, among many others.
