Product Description

McCoy Tyner recorded his third album, Nights Of Ballads And Blues, in 1963 with a new trio featuring Steve Davis on bass and Lex Humphries on the drums. Tyner exemplifies his love for melodies and standards on this record, treating all the tracks with a tender appreciation for each tune. Tyner features seven standards and sprinkles in renditions of Thelonious Monk’s “Round Midnight” and “Blue Monk.” Tyner’s original, “Groove Waltz,” is a modal waltz that reminds listeners of his distinctive voice on the piano.
