In 1962, Ray Charles did the unthinkable: He made an album of country covers. But the album exposed that R&B and country had more in common with each other than anyone would grant then, or now. These records are insanely important in the evolution of both genres, and within them contain historical precedence for a lot of how music has changed and been siloed into genres since the '60s. Transferred from the original analog master tapes, the audio of the iconic albums from Ray Charles, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, Vols. 1 & 2 was faithfully transferred by The Village Studios in Los Angeles at 24 bit/192 Hz. The digital transfers were then premastered by Paul Blakemore at Concord Mastering, from which new lacquers were cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. What you’re hearing is the highest quality version of the albums ever released, with the songs sounding as clear as the day they echoed off the walls in Capitol Studios back in the winter of 1962.
