Sheryl Crow – Sheryl Crow [Stereo] (Vinylphyle Series Edition)

(DDA) — Lacquers cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl from 24-bit/96 kHz digital files assembled by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering from the original digital master. Though originally recorded in the analog domain, the 2″ 24-track tape was printed to DAT tape for mixing, meaning the final mix (i.e., “original master tape”) was digital.

Sheryl Crow’s self-titled second album is on vinyl for the very first time. Produced by Sheryl Crow herself, this LP features the hit singles “If It Makes You Happy,” “A Change Would Do You Good,” and “Everyday Is A Winding Road,” helping earn the album multi-platinum success and the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. The Vinylphyle edition includes new retrospective liner notes written by Jim McDermott, a New York City-based writer and photographer that has worked in the music industry for 40 years.

Each Vinylphyle release features all analog mastering from original sources by an elite group of today’s top vinyl cutting engineers (unless sequenced analog masters don’t exist). The LPs are pressed at the world-class audiophile vinyl record pressing plant RTI, on 180-gram black vinyl. The production and packaging seek to honor the stature of these recordings and include tip-on wrapped gatefold jackets in satin matte finish, printed on clay-coated board, with archival poly sleeves and a four-panel insert featuring new liner notes. Backed by RTI’s craftsmanship, these releases are produced at the highest levels and include extensive quality controls at every step of the process, from mastering to plating to pressing and printing, ensuring an exceptional final product.

SOURCE: ADA. Much care was taken to identify the best possible sources for vinyl mastering. The pre-mastered flat mixes of this album were originally printed from the 2” 24-track to DAT tape. The final mixes were identified and sent to Justin Perkins who assembled new vinyl cutting masters using a digital/analog hybrid process captured in 96kHz/24bit. Lacquers were cut by Jeff Powell.
