(ADA) — Lacquers cut by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound from a 24-bit/96 kHz (digital) transfer of the original analog master tapes by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering.

Erykah Badu's Mama's Gun is presented in a new audiophile format worthy of the album's accolades. This Vinylphyle edition is remastered for the very first time since the original CD release from the analog 1/4” mix reels by Justin Perkins to hi-res digital, then cut by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound, Nashville and pressed at RTI. The original artwork with embossed lettering is now in a tip-on jacket and heavyweight vinyl, and includes a new essay by Erykah Badu herself.

Each Vinylphyle release features all analog mastering from original sources by an elite group of today’s top vinyl cutting engineers (unless sequenced analog masters don’t exist). The LPs are pressed at the world-class audiophile vinyl record pressing plant RTI, on 180-gram black vinyl. The production and packaging seek to honor the stature of these recordings and include tip-on wrapped gatefold jackets in satin matte finish, printed on clay-coated board, with archival poly sleeves and a four-panel insert featuring new liner notes. Backed by RTI’s craftsmanship, these releases are produced at the highest levels and include extensive quality controls at every step of the process, from mastering to plating to pressing and printing, ensuring a superb final product.

There are no sequenced analog masters for Mama's Gun. The original 44.1kHz/16bit files, with the original CD mastering and limiting, have been the only source for all digital and vinyl reissues—until now. The record was reassembled and rebuilt digitally from 14 individual track tapes, newly transferred in 96kHz/24bit, in order to create the first true remaster of this record since it came out 25 years ago.
